Northern Territory Government     Do the NT

The NT Government is a major sponsor of the Lasseters Easter in the Alice, and it is keen to promote mountain biking in and around Alice Springs.

This move marks the NT Government's growing recognition of mountain biking's rising popularity in the Territory, and of the sport's potential to enhance the health, recreation, day-to-day happiness of the people who live in Alice Springs, as-well as offering tourism opportunities. The Territory Government is particularly supportive of grassroots events like Lasseters Easter in the Alice mountain Bike Muster, which is run by the Alice Springs mountain bike club (the central Australian Rough Riders, CARR), with supported by local business and individuals in Alice Springs.

CARR enjoys a good relationship with the NT Government. The club works closely with Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife on the Alice Springs MTB trail Network which was formally opened by minister for Parks and Wildlife Hon. Bess Price on Monday, 14 April 2014. In January 2016 Tourism NT presented the Draft Master Plan for Mountain Biking in the Northern Territory. The Master Plan was developed to guide investment in and development of sustainable world class mountain biking opportunities in the Northern Territory.
